Apron

I used an old coverlet bedspread that had tiny ribbing in it. It was perfect to make an apron out of to recycle it. I also used some scraps of fabric for the band on the front and also the straps/tie.

I used this template but if I make another, I would change the 7-1/2" at the top to maybe 6" or so. 7-1/2' was too big and it bunches up a little.

Cut out two pieces from the template along a folded edge of fabric. Then sew on the decorative (plaid fabric, edged tucked under) strip to one side. Then, place both fabrics right side together and sew all the way around. I left small spots at the top and sides for the strap to feed through (4 total). I also left a hole at the bottom to turn it right side out

After turning it right side out, sew all around the edge and be sure to leave 4 holes for the strap. Then leave room for the strap to be fished through and sew a line from the top, around the curve and down to the side. This is the channel the strap will sit when the strap is fished through. Clear as mud???

For the strap, I cut 3 inch strips out of the plaid fabric and sewed them together end to end. I then ironed the strip by folding the outside edges to the center and then folded it in half and sewed along the both edges to complete. Hook a safety pin to one end and fish it through the channel we left.

All done!!! the strap is adjustable by moving it through the apron ;)
